HMS Cracker (1797)

HMS Cracker was a British Royal Navy gun-brig launched in 1797. She served primarily in the English Channel and the North Sea during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

Cracker was armed with twelve 18-pounder carronades and two 6-pounder guns. As a gun-brig, she was designed for coastal patrol, convoy escort, and engaging smaller enemy vessels.

Her service included participating in the blockade of French ports and intercepting privateers. Records of her specific actions are sparse, which is common for smaller vessels engaged in routine patrol duties. However, she is noted to have captured several small French privateers and merchant vessels.

Cracker was eventually sold out of service in 1802 following the Treaty of Amiens, a brief period of peace between Britain and France. Her ultimate fate is not well documented after her sale.
