Richard Combe (MP)

Richard Combe (1774 – 1857) was a British politician and brewer. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ludlow from 1832 to 1837.

Combe was a partner in the prominent London brewing firm Combe & Co., which operated the largest brewery in the city at the time. He was known for his business acumen and influence within the brewing industry.

In Parliament, Combe generally aligned with the Whig party. His tenure coincided with a period of significant political reform, including the passage of the Reform Act 1832, which he supported. His contributions to parliamentary debates were primarily focused on matters related to trade and commerce, particularly concerning the brewing industry.

After leaving Parliament in 1837, Combe returned to his business interests and continued to play an active role in the management of Combe & Co. until his death in 1857.
