Rhyl Pier
Rhyl Pier was a Victorian pier in the seaside town of Rhyl, Denbighshire, Wales. Constructed in 1867, it extended approximately 765 yards (700 metres) into the Irish Sea. It was a popular tourist attraction, offering amusements, entertainment, and promenade space.
The pier experienced a decline in popularity and structural integrity during the 20th century. Sections of the pier were damaged by storms and fires on multiple occasions. A particularly devastating fire in 1933 significantly shortened the pier. Despite efforts to maintain and renovate it, the remaining structure was deemed unsafe and was eventually dismantled between 1973 and 1978.
Today, no physical remains of Rhyl Pier exist above the waterline. Its location is marked by signage and historical information on the seafront. The site is now primarily used for other seaside attractions and leisure activities. The pier remains a significant part of Rhyl's history and is remembered by many residents and visitors.
