Ray Jones (footballer, born 1944)

Ray Jones (born 23 August 1944) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender.

Jones began his career with Swindon Town, where he made his professional debut. He was a key member of the Swindon team that won the League Cup in 1969, famously defeating Arsenal 3-1 at Wembley. He also played in the team that won the Anglo-Italian League Cup in 1969 and the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1970.

After a successful spell at Swindon Town, Jones moved to Torquay United. He contributed significantly to the team, although silverware was not achieved during his time there.

Following his time at Torquay, Jones played for Exeter City before retiring from professional football. His career spanned the late 1960s and early 1970s.
