John McDermott (Australian footballer)

John McDermott (born 11 December 1933, died 20 April 2012) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

McDermott, a rover, played 43 senior games for Fitzroy between 1954 and 1957. He debuted in Round 16, 1954, against Geelong. In 1955, he kicked a career-high 21 goals. After leaving Fitzroy, he played for Preston in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). He was a member of Preston's 1961 premiership team, coached by Alan Joyce.
