Stanley Marcus (judge)

Stanley Marcus is a Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He was nominated by President Bill Clinton on January 27, 1997, and confirmed by the United States Senate on April 11, 1997. He received his commission on April 21, 1997.

Prior to his appointment to the Eleventh Circuit, Marcus served as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida from 1985 to 1997. He was nominated to that position by President Ronald Reagan.

Marcus graduated from Queens College, City University of New York, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then earned a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Following law school, Marcus served as a law clerk to Judge John Minor Wisdom of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Before his appointment to the bench, he was engaged in private practice.
