Wang Guosheng (politician)

Wang Guosheng (born November 1956) is a retired Chinese politician. He served as the Governor of Hubei Province from 2016 to 2021, and previously held various prominent positions in Zhejiang Province.

Wang Guosheng began his career working in rural Zhejiang. He gradually rose through the ranks of the Communist Party of China (CPC) system. He served as the Party Secretary of Tongxiang, and later as the Mayor of Huzhou.

He held several key provincial positions in Zhejiang, including:

• Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Organization
• Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee
• Deputy Party Secretary of Zhejiang

In 2016, Wang was appointed Deputy Party Secretary and acting Governor of Hubei Province, succeeding Wang Xiaodong. He was officially confirmed as Governor later that year. During his tenure as Governor, Hubei province experienced significant economic growth and also dealt with the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Wuhan.

Wang Guosheng retired from his position as Governor of Hubei in 2021 and was succeeded by Wang Zhonglin.
