Pushya
Pushya (पुष्य) is the eighth nakshatra (lunar mansion) in Hindu astrology. It spans from 3:20 degrees to 16:40 degrees Cancer in the zodiac. It is considered one of the most auspicious and benevolent of the nakshatras.
The presiding deity of Pushya is Brihaspati, the guru of the gods, associated with wisdom, knowledge, and righteousness. Its symbol is the udder of a cow, representing nourishment, abundance, and nurturing qualities. Alternatively, it can be represented by a lotus, symbolising purity, spiritual growth, and enlightenment.
Pushya is ruled by the planet Saturn, which lends it a sense of stability, responsibility, and perseverance. It is associated with qualities like compassion, generosity, and a desire to help others. Individuals born under this nakshatra are often seen as caring, supportive, and possess a strong sense of ethics. They may also exhibit qualities of leadership and possess strong family values.
In Vedic texts, Pushya is also associated with growth, prosperity, and good fortune. Auspicious activities, such as starting new ventures, performing religious ceremonies, and making investments, are traditionally favored during the period when the Moon transits Pushya nakshatra. However, marriage is generally avoided during this nakshatra.
