Pride (Japanese TV series)
Pride is a Japanese television drama (dorama) series that aired on Fuji Television from January to March 2004. It stars Takuya Kimura and Yūko Takeuchi in the leading roles.
The series revolves around the lives and loves of members of an ice hockey team, the "Blue Scorpions." Halu (played by Takuya Kimura), the captain of the team, is dedicated to hockey and believes in a "Queen and I" type of relationship, focusing on sports while his partner understands and supports him. Aki (played by Yūko Takeuchi) is a woman waiting for her fiancé, who is working overseas. Halu and Aki enter into a purely physical relationship, with no emotional attachments, as a temporary arrangement to combat their loneliness.
As the series progresses, their initial agreement becomes complicated as they begin to develop genuine feelings for each other. The drama explores themes of love, loyalty, commitment, and the pursuit of dreams. Alongside the central romance, the series also delves into the challenges and camaraderie within the Blue Scorpions team.
The series was highly popular in Japan and internationally, known for its stylish cinematography, soundtrack featuring Queen's music, and compelling performances. It is considered a classic romantic drama within the Japanese television landscape.
