Elizabeth Stewart (daughter of Robert III)
Elizabeth Stewart, also known as Elizabeth Stewart of Scotland (c. 1380 – c. 1411), was a Scottish princess, the daughter of King Robert III of Scotland and his wife Annabella Drummond.
Elizabeth was betrothed to John Stewart, Earl of Carrick, later Earl of Buchan, but the marriage never took place. He instead married Margaret Stewart, daughter of Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany.
She married Sir John Lyon of Glamis sometime before 1396. John Lyon was the son of Sir John Lyon, Lord Glamis, and his wife, Joanna, daughter of King Robert II. With John Lyon, Elizabeth had one son:
- Patrick Lyon, 1st Lord Glamis (died 1459)
Elizabeth's husband, Sir John Lyon, was assassinated on 4 November 1405 at Menmuir. Elizabeth subsequently married Sir Robert de Erskine, 1st Lord Erskine, before 27 May 1408. They had no known children.
Elizabeth Stewart died sometime around 1411. Her son, Patrick Lyon, became a powerful figure in Scottish politics. Through him, Elizabeth is an ancestor to many notable families.
