Millmoor

Millmoor was a football stadium located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It served as the home ground of Rotherham County F.C. (later Rotherham United F.C.) from 1907 until 2008.

History:

The ground was originally known as the Clifton Lane ground and was renamed Millmoor upon Rotherham County's relocation to the site in 1907. Over the years, Millmoor underwent numerous renovations and expansions. It was known for its intimate atmosphere and the passionate support of Rotherham United fans.

Decline and Closure:

In 2008, a dispute over the lease and ownership of the ground led to Rotherham United leaving Millmoor. The club subsequently played their home games at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield before moving to a temporary ground in Rotherham. Millmoor fell into disrepair after the club's departure.

Current Status:

Millmoor remained derelict for several years. Attempts were made to redevelop the site, but these were ultimately unsuccessful. The stadium was eventually demolished in 2017. The land on which Millmoor stood is now earmarked for redevelopment. The club eventually returned to Rotherham with the construction of the New York Stadium.
