David Goodman (chess player)
David Goodman (born 1900, died 1991) was a British chess player, problemist, and chess writer. He was awarded the International Master title in 1951.
Goodman was a strong amateur player, representing Great Britain in several international team events, including the Chess Olympiads of 1935, 1937, 1939, and 1954. He achieved his best result at the 1939 Olympiad in Buenos Aires, scoring 9/13 on board four.
Beyond his over-the-board play, Goodman was a renowned composer of chess problems, particularly two-movers. He was also a noted chess journalist and author. His writings include "A Pocket Guide to Chess Openings" and "Teach Yourself Chess." He contributed articles to various chess publications and newspapers.
