M.G. Lord

M.G. Lord (born 1944) is an American journalist, author, and cultural critic. She is known for her work exploring themes of gender, technology, and American culture, often from a feminist perspective.

Lord's books include Forever Barbie: The Unauthorized Biography of a Real Doll, a critical examination of the Barbie doll's cultural impact, and Astra and Flavia: A True WWII Story of Resistance, Friendship, and Flight, a biography of two women pilots who flew for the Air Transport Auxiliary during World War II. Her other works include Household Words: Bloomers, Seduction, and Talking Back and The Accidental Feminist: Why Women and Men Still Aren’t Equal and What We Can Do About It.

She has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Newsday, The Nation, and Vogue.

Lord received a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. in journalism from Columbia University. She has taught at several universities, including the University of Southern California. Her work has been praised for its insightful analysis and its contribution to the understanding of gender roles and cultural norms in contemporary society.
