Uwe Wolf (musicologist)

Uwe Wolf (born 1965) is a German musicologist specializing in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his family. He is a leading figure in Bach scholarship, particularly known for his work on the authentication, chronology, and performance practices of Bach's compositions.

Wolf studied musicology at the University of Göttingen, where he also received his doctorate. He has held positions at the Bach-Archiv Leipzig, one of the world's foremost centers for Bach research, serving as its Director since 2014.

His research interests extend beyond Bach to encompass broader aspects of Baroque music and its cultural context. He has published extensively on a range of topics, including Bach's cantatas, organ works, and instrumental music. Wolf is also involved in the editorial work of the Neue Bach-Ausgabe, the new critical edition of Bach's complete works. His contributions to this edition have been crucial in establishing authoritative texts of Bach's compositions.
