Phillauri (film)

Phillauri is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film directed by Anshai Lal and produced by Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Soni under the banner of Clean Slate Films. The film stars Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada in lead roles.

The story revolves around Kanan (Suraj Sharma), a young man who is forced to marry a tree to ward off bad luck after he is revealed to be a Manglik (astrologically inauspicious). To his surprise, he finds himself married to Shashi (Anushka Sharma), a friendly ghost who has been attached to the tree for decades.

The film then explores Shashi's past, revealing her love story with Phillauri (Diljit Dosanjh), a folk singer in pre-partition Punjab. Through flashbacks, the film showcases their romance and the tragic circumstances of their separation, ultimately connecting their story to Kanan's present-day life.

Phillauri is a blend of comedy, romance, and drama, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption across generations. The film's soundtrack, composed by Shashwat Sachdev, also received positive reviews.
