Vltava (steamboat)

The Vltava is a historic paddle steamer operating on the Vltava River in Prague, Czech Republic. Built in 1940 by the Škoda Works in Prague, it is one of the last remaining operational steamers of its kind in the Czech Republic and represents a significant example of Czech engineering and nautical history.

The Vltava was originally used for passenger transport between Prague and Štěchovice, a popular recreational area south of the city. It continued to operate on this route and other excursions for several decades.

Today, the Vltava is primarily used for tourist cruises and charter events on the Vltava River, offering passengers scenic views of Prague's landmarks from the water. It is frequently used for private celebrations, corporate events, and sightseeing tours.

The steamer is meticulously maintained and preserved, retaining much of its original design and features. Its operation is often accompanied by live music or commentary about the history of the river and the city. The Vltava serves as a tangible link to Prague's past and a popular attraction for both locals and tourists.
