Hungry Hearts (2014 film)

Hungry Hearts is a 2014 Italian drama film directed by Saverio Costanzo, starring Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher. The film is based on the novel "Il bambino indaco" ("The Indigo Child") by Marco Franzoso.

The plot centers on Jude (Driver) and Mina (Rohrwacher), an American and Italian couple living in New York City. Their relationship intensifies and takes a dark turn after the birth of their son. Mina develops an obsession with her child's well-being, adhering to strict and increasingly restrictive diets and practices based on her belief that he is highly sensitive and fragile. Jude becomes increasingly concerned about their son's health and Mina's mental state, leading to a bitter conflict over the child's upbringing.

The film explores themes of obsessive parenting, postpartum mental health, cultural differences, and the disintegration of a relationship. It is known for its claustrophobic atmosphere and intense performances by the lead actors. Both Driver and Rohrwacher won Volpi Cups for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, at the 71st Venice International Film Festival for their roles in the film.
