Mel Hall
Mel Hall (born August 28, 1960) is a former professional baseball outfielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1981 to 1996. He played for the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals, and San Francisco Giants.
Hall was known for his power hitting and his defensive ability in the outfield. He was named to the American League All-Star team in 1987. His career was marred by legal issues later in life.
He was initially drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1st round (3rd overall) of the 1979 MLB June Amateur Draft. Hall’s best season offensively was arguably 1987 with the Cleveland Indians when he hit 34 home runs and drove in 94 runs.
Hall’s professional baseball career ended abruptly amidst allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. In 2012, he was sentenced to prison on child sex abuse charges. His post-baseball life has been marked by legal troubles and controversy.
