64th (2nd Highland) Division

The 64th (2nd Highland) Division was a British Army infantry division that served during the Second World War. It was formed in 1940 as part of the expansion of the British Army to meet the needs of the war effort. Unlike many divisions, it was raised entirely from Scottish units. Its nickname, "The Second Highland Division", distinguished it from the existing 51st (Highland) Division.

The division's initial formation included three infantry brigades: the 192nd, 193rd, and 194th Infantry Brigades. These brigades were largely composed of Territorial Army units, with many soldiers drawn from the Highland regiments of Scotland. The division's composition saw some changes throughout the war.

The 64th Division underwent extensive training in the United Kingdom before being deployed overseas. While it never saw action on the scale of some other divisions, it did serve in various capacities, including garrison duties and contributing to the defence of the United Kingdom against potential invasion. The division was ultimately disbanded post-war. Further details regarding specific deployments and operational history require more detailed research. Specific battle honours and awards earned by the division also warrant further investigation.
