Peter Firth (bishop)

Peter Firth (born 1951) is a retired Anglican bishop in the Church of England. He served as the Bishop of Beverley, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of York, from 2007 to 2018. As Bishop of Beverley, he was also a provincial episcopal visitor for the Province of York, ministering to parishes who, on grounds of theological conviction, cannot receive the ministry of women priests or bishops. Firth was consecrated as bishop on 25 January 2007 at York Minster. Prior to his consecration, he served as the Vicar of St Mary's, Dalton-le-Dale, in the Diocese of Durham. Firth is considered to be within the conservative evangelical tradition of Anglicanism. He is married with children.
