Thilakan

Thilakan (1935-2012) was an Indian actor renowned for his prolific and versatile performances primarily in Malayalam cinema. He is widely considered one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema, celebrated for his naturalistic acting style and powerful screen presence.

Born Surendranatha Thilakan in Ayroor, Kerala, he began his acting career in theatre before transitioning to film. Throughout his career, spanning over four decades, Thilakan acted in over 200 films, playing a wide range of characters including protagonists, antagonists, and supporting roles.

His significant works include films such as Kireedam, Perumthachan, Moonnamathoral, Indian Rupee, Ee Adutha Kaalathu, and Ustad Hotel. He received numerous awards and accolades, including three National Film Awards and eleven Kerala State Film Awards.
