Farmall

Farmall was a line of general-purpose tractors manufactured by International Harvester (IH) from 1924 to 1973. The Farmall was revolutionary in its design and intended for smaller farms than previous tractors, offering versatility and affordability.

The original Farmall, known retroactively as the "Regular," was designed to be a row-crop tractor, capable of cultivating crops planted in rows. This was a significant innovation, as it allowed farmers to use a single tractor for a variety of tasks, including plowing, planting, and cultivating.

The success of the Regular led to the development of a family of Farmall tractors, each designed for different farm sizes and tasks. These included the F-12, F-14, F-20, and F-30 models. The "letter series" Farmalls (A, B, C, H, M, and others) released in the late 1930s and 1940s became iconic and greatly expanded the brand's popularity. These tractors were known for their reliability, affordability, and ease of use.

Following World War II, IH continued to develop and improve the Farmall line, introducing new models with increased power and features. The numbered series (such as the 300, 400, 560) continued the Farmall tradition. The Farmall name became synonymous with International Harvester tractors and a symbol of American agriculture.

The Farmall name was discontinued by International Harvester in 1973, but the tractors remain popular among collectors and enthusiasts. The name was briefly revived by Case IH (a successor to IH) in the early 2000s for a line of compact tractors.

The Farmall tractor played a significant role in the mechanization of agriculture and helped to increase farm productivity. Its innovative design and affordability made it accessible to a wide range of farmers, contributing to the growth and development of the agricultural industry.
