Perry Ellis (basketball)

Perry Ellis (born September 14, 1993) is an American former professional basketball player. He is best known for his college career at the University of Kansas, where he played from 2012 to 2016.

Ellis, a 6'8" power forward, was a highly-touted recruit coming out of Wichita Heights High School in Kansas. During his time at Kansas, he became a consistent scorer and rebounder, earning All-Big 12 honors multiple times. He was known for his versatility, inside-outside game, and durability.

His seemingly perpetual presence on the Kansas Jayhawks roster became a running joke and meme online, with many jokingly questioning when Ellis would finally graduate.

Following his college career, Ellis entered the 2016 NBA draft but was not selected. He went on to play professionally in the NBA G League, as well as overseas in Australia, Italy, Germany, and South Korea. His professional career has included stints with the Greensboro Swarm, Iowa Energy, and Sydney Kings, among others. While never reaching the NBA, he has enjoyed a successful career as a journeyman professional basketball player.
