Perilex

Perilex is a type of high-current electrical connector commonly used in European countries, particularly in Scandinavia, for connecting appliances such as electric stoves, ovens, and other high-power devices to the electrical mains. It is characterized by its circular shape and the arrangement of its five or seven pins. The connector system is designed to safely handle significant electrical loads, typically exceeding those handled by standard household plugs and sockets.

The Perilex connector facilitates both single-phase and three-phase power connections. The five-pin version typically consists of three phase conductors (L1, L2, L3), one neutral conductor (N), and one protective earth (PE) conductor. The seven-pin version provides additional functionality, often used for features such as controlling an exhaust fan or providing extra auxiliary power.

Wiring a Perilex connector requires specialized knowledge and adherence to local electrical safety regulations. Incorrect wiring can result in serious hazards, including electric shock and fire. Therefore, installation and maintenance should only be performed by qualified electricians. The connector is designed with safety in mind, requiring proper mating between the plug and socket to ensure correct connection and grounding before power is supplied. Due to varying national standards and practices, Perilex connectors are not universally adopted and are less common outside of specific European regions.
