Paul Evans (ice hockey, born 1954)
Paul Evans (born October 31, 1954) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played primarily in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1970s and early 1980s.
Evans, a defenseman, was drafted by the St. Louis Blues of the NHL in 1974, but he began his professional career with the Toronto Toros of the WHA. He also played for the Birmingham Bulls and Quebec Nordiques in the WHA.
Following the merger of several WHA teams into the NHL in 1979, Evans joined the Hartford Whalers. He also played for the St. Louis Blues, and Calgary Flames during his NHL career.
Evans was known for his solid defensive play and physical style.
After his playing career ended, he remained involved in hockey, including coaching at various levels.
