Operation Tiger (1994)

Operation Tiger was a military operation conducted by the Croatian Army (HV) against the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) in the area of Kupres, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in November 1994. The operation's objective was to liberate the town of Kupres and surrounding areas, securing a strategically important pass through the Kupres plateau.

The operation was launched following a series of previous offensives by the HV in the area, aiming to relieve pressure on besieged areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to improve the Croatian Army's strategic position. Prior to Operation Tiger, the VRS held Kupres, which controlled vital routes connecting different parts of Republika Srpska.

Operation Tiger involved significant armored and infantry units. After several days of intense fighting, the Croatian forces successfully captured Kupres on November 3, 1994. The capture of Kupres significantly altered the military balance in the region and facilitated further operations by the HV and the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) in the following months.

The operation, like many military engagements during the Bosnian War, was controversial, with accusations of war crimes leveled against participating forces, though these allegations remain contested. Following Operation Tiger, the HV maintained control of Kupres until the end of the war.
