Ohm (river)
The Ohm is a river in Russia, flowing through the Novosibirsk and Omsk Oblasts in southwestern Siberia. It is a left tributary of the Irtysh River.
The river is approximately 1,080 kilometers (670 miles) long, and its drainage basin covers an area of 52,600 square kilometers (20,300 square miles). The Ohm's source is located in the Vasyugan Swamp. It flows generally westwards, joining the Irtysh River near Omsk, a major Siberian city.
The river is primarily fed by snowmelt. Its highest water levels occur during the spring flood season (April-June). The Ohm freezes over in late October or early November, and remains frozen until April or early May.
The river is used for navigation, timber rafting, and fishing. Major towns located on or near the Ohm River include Kuibyshev and Kalachinsk. The Trans-Siberian Railway crosses the Ohm near Barabinsk.
