Naviraí
Naviraí is a municipality located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. It is situated in the southern portion of the state and is part of the Iguatemi microregion and the Naviraí mesoregion.
Naviraí was founded in 1952, initially as a planned agricultural colony intended to foster development in the region. The name "Naviraí" is derived from the Tupi-Guarani language, combining the words "Nambi" (ear) and "Iraí" (honey), possibly referencing the shape of the land or the presence of beehives.
The municipality's economy is primarily based on agriculture, livestock, and services. Key agricultural products include soybeans, corn, sugarcane, and cassava. Cattle ranching is also a significant economic activity.
Naviraí has a population of approximately 55,000 inhabitants (as of recent estimates), and the city serves as a regional center for commerce and services for the surrounding agricultural area.
