Sanbe Dam

Sanbe Dam is an embankment dam located in Ōnan, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. The dam's primary purpose is flood control, but it also serves for irrigation and municipal water supply. It was completed in 1994 and creates a reservoir with a surface area of approximately 29 hectares. The dam is constructed on the Ajinose River, a tributary of the Gonokawa River. The surrounding area is largely forested and mountainous. The reservoir is known locally as Lake Sanbe. Operation and maintenance of the dam are managed by the Shimane Prefectural Government. The dam's name is derived from nearby Mount Sanbe.
