Grič Tunnel (roadway)

The Grič Tunnel is a pedestrian and roadway tunnel located in Zagreb, Croatia. Situated beneath the historic Upper Town (Gornji Grad), specifically the Grič neighborhood, it runs approximately east-west. Originally constructed as an air raid shelter during World War II, it was later repurposed for various functions.

The tunnel has several entrances and exits, providing access to different parts of the city center. Its primary purpose has shifted over time from shelter to a pedestrian passageway and event space. While primarily used by pedestrians to shorten travel time between certain points, sections of the tunnel are sometimes used to host cultural events, exhibitions, and performances. The tunnel offers a unique underground environment and has become a minor tourist attraction.
