David Kennedy (economist)
David Kennedy (born 1947) is an Australian economist known for his work in the fields of environmental economics, ecological economics, and natural resource management. He is an Emeritus Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University.
Kennedy's research has focused on the development of economic models that incorporate environmental factors, aiming to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the interactions between economic activity and the natural world. He has contributed to the development of policy frameworks for sustainable resource use and environmental protection. His work often emphasizes the limitations of traditional economic indicators like GDP as measures of societal well-being and argues for incorporating environmental and social considerations into economic decision-making.
He has published extensively in academic journals and has consulted with government agencies and international organizations on environmental policy issues. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
