Changes (Catapilla album)

Changes is the second and final studio album by the British progressive jazz-rock band Catapilla, released in 1972 on Vertigo Records. The album marked a significant shift in the band's sound compared to their debut, retaining elements of jazz improvisation and progressive rock complexity but incorporating a heavier, more overtly rock-oriented approach.

While the lineup remained mostly consistent, the band dynamic had altered, contributing to a more guitar-centric sound. The distinctive free-jazz saxophone improvisations, a hallmark of their earlier work, were somewhat less prominent. The album features extended instrumental passages, complex time signatures, and improvisational sections typical of the progressive rock genre.

Despite the musical changes, Changes did not achieve significant commercial success. Like their first album, Catapilla, it has become a cult favorite among fans of progressive rock and experimental music. It's known for its raw energy and the band's commitment to pushing the boundaries of genre conventions.
