Uri (island)
Uri is a small, uninhabited island located in the Urnersee (Lake Lucerne) in Switzerland. It is one of the two islands in the lake; the other is Schwyz Island. Uri Island is part of the municipality of Seedorf, Canton Uri.
The island is primarily known for its historical significance as a possible refuge or defensive position. While not extensively documented, it is believed to have been used in times of conflict or instability. Its small size and relative isolation within the lake provided a degree of natural protection.
Uri Island is characterized by its rocky terrain and limited vegetation. Due to its small size, it lacks significant infrastructure or development. It is accessible only by boat.
The island serves mainly as a scenic element within the Urnersee landscape. It contributes to the overall natural beauty of the area and is often observed by tourists and locals enjoying the lake.
