Bill Rice (actor)
Bill Rice (1931 – January 28, 2006) was an American character actor, primarily known for his roles in independent and experimental films of the 1980s and 1990s.
Rice began his acting career relatively late in life. He gained prominence through his collaborations with director Hal Hartley, appearing in several of Hartley's early films including The Unbelievable Truth (1989), Trust (1990), Simple Men (1992), and Flirt (1995). His performances were often characterized by a dry wit, understated delivery, and a somewhat world-weary persona.
Beyond Hartley's films, Rice appeared in a variety of other independent productions, including works by Abel Ferrara, Michael Almereyda, and Nick Gomez. He frequently played supporting roles, imbuing even smaller parts with a memorable presence. His filmography showcases his versatility and commitment to the independent film scene.
