Psyclone (Canada's Wonderland)
Psyclone was a looping shuttle roller coaster located at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. It operated from 1986 to 1996. Manufactured by Arrow Dynamics, it was one of the early examples of shuttle loop coasters, which launched riders forward and backward through a vertical loop.
The ride consisted of a single train that was propelled out of the station using a flywheel launch system. The train would travel through the vertical loop, up a spike at the opposite end of the track, and then reverse course, passing back through the loop and up another spike located just past the loading platform. The train would then roll forward and backward several times before coming to a complete stop near the loading platform.
Psyclone was known for its intense launch and the brief sensation of weightlessness experienced during the loop. However, it also had a reputation for being a rough ride, particularly due to the over-the-shoulder restraints common on Arrow Dynamics coasters of the time.
After its closure in 1996, Psyclone was dismantled and scrapped. The area it occupied has since been repurposed for other attractions within the park.
