Onome Ebi
Onome Ebi (born May 8, 1983) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Levante UD and the Nigeria women's national football team, the Super Falcons. She is the first African footballer to play in five FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments, achieving this feat in 2023.
Ebi began her career with Bayelsa Queens in the Nigerian Women's Championship before moving to Piteå IF in Sweden's Damallsvenskan in 2007. She later played for Djurgårdens IF and Linköpings FC in Sweden, before spells in Turkey with Düvenciler Lisesispor and Ataşehir Belediyespor. She also played in Russia for Rossiyanka and FC Minsk in Belarus.
Ebi has represented Nigeria at multiple African Women's Championships (now known as the Women's Africa Cup of Nations), winning the title several times. She has been a key member of the Super Falcons squad for over two decades, known for her leadership, defensive skills, and longevity. Her commitment to the sport and consistent performance have made her a role model for aspiring female footballers in Nigeria and across Africa.
