George Thomas (rugby, born 1881)
George Thomas (born in Bargoed, Wales, 1881; died in Bargoed, Wales, 1947) was a Welsh international rugby union player. He was a prominent forward who played club rugby for Bargoed RFC and represented Wales on one occasion.
Playing Career
Thomas was a strong and reliable forward, primarily playing as a lock. He was a key member of the Bargoed RFC team during the early 1900s. His consistent performances earned him a call-up to the Welsh national team.
International Career
Thomas earned a single cap for Wales on 16 March 1907 against Ireland at Cardiff Arms Park. Wales won the match 29-0.
Later Life
Following his rugby career, Thomas remained in Bargoed. He died in his hometown in 1947.
