N-634 road (Spain)
The N-634 is a national road in Spain. It runs parallel to the northern coast of Spain, generally following the route of the ancient Roman road Via Agrippa. It connects the Basque Country in the east to Galicia in the west.
Specifically, the N-634 roughly parallels the A-8 motorway (Autovía del Cantábrico) for much of its length, offering an alternative route with access to smaller towns and villages not directly served by the motorway. It often runs closer to the coastline than the A-8.
The road passes through major cities and towns including San Sebastián, Bilbao, Santander, Gijón, and A Coruña. It is a two-lane road for most of its length, though some sections may be upgraded or incorporated into local road networks in urban areas. Due to its coastal location and the often-mountainous terrain of northern Spain, the N-634 features numerous curves and gradients. While it offers scenic views, it can be slower and more challenging to drive than the parallel A-8.
