Mido (footballer)

Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid (Mido) (born February 23, 1983) is an Egyptian former professional footballer who played as a striker.

He began his professional career with Zamalek in Egypt before moving to Europe, playing for clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, England, and Qatar. These clubs included Gent, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Marseille, Roma, Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic, West Ham United, and Barnsley.

Mido was known for his technical ability, powerful shot, and occasionally volatile temperament. He also had a successful international career, representing the Egyptian national team on numerous occasions and playing in the Africa Cup of Nations. He was part of the Egyptian squad that won the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt, though he had a controversial incident during the semi-final.

After retiring from playing, Mido transitioned into football management. He has managed several clubs in Egypt, including Zamalek and Ismaily. He has also worked as a football pundit and commentator. His managerial career has been characterized by both success and controversy, much like his playing career.
