Midnight Ramble (album)
Midnight Ramble is the third studio album by American blues rock band The Black Crowes, released in 1994. The album's title is taken from the name of the late-night musical gatherings held at the home of musician Levon Helm in Woodstock, New York.
Midnight Ramble showcases a rawer, more stripped-down sound compared to the band's previous albums. It features a mix of original material and covers of classic blues, soul, and R&B songs. The album was produced by the band themselves, along with John Leckie.
Notable tracks on Midnight Ramble include "A Conspiracy," "High Head Blues," and covers such as "When the Spell is Broken" (originally by Bob Dylan) and "Good Morning Captain" (originally by Sleepy John Estes). The album's sound reflects the band's deep appreciation for American roots music and their desire to explore a more authentic, less polished sound. While not as commercially successful as their previous albums, Midnight Ramble is considered by many fans and critics to be a significant and influential work in The Black Crowes' discography.
