Thomas Howard (baseball)
Thomas Howard (born March 11, 1964, in Los Angeles, California, died November 12, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals from 1986 to 1995.
Howard was primarily a corner infielder, playing both first base and third base during his MLB career. He was known for his power hitting, particularly during his time with the Cincinnati Reds. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 1st round (13th overall) of the 1982 MLB amateur draft.
Howard’s best offensive season came in 1989 with the Cincinnati Reds, where he hit 15 home runs and drove in 53 runs in 97 games played. He was a part of the 1990 Cincinnati Reds team that won the World Series, although he did not play in the postseason.
After his MLB career, Howard continued to play professional baseball in Japan for the Seibu Lions. He also worked as a coach.
Howard died in a car accident in 2018.
