Mid Ulster (Assembly constituency)

Mid Ulster is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. It was first used in the 1998 election for the then Northern Ireland Assembly. It shares boundaries with the Mid Ulster UK Parliament constituency.

As with all other Assembly constituencies, Mid Ulster elects five Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) by single transferable vote.

The constituency covers the area of the former Cookstown, Magherafelt, and Dungannon and South Tyrone districts. Key towns and villages within the constituency include Cookstown, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Coalisland, Moneymore, and Pomeroy.

Historically, Mid Ulster has been a stronghold for Irish nationalism, particularly Sinn Féin. However, other political parties, including the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP), and the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), have also been represented in the Assembly from this constituency. The political landscape can shift from election to election.

The MLAs elected for Mid Ulster represent the diverse political views of the area's electorate and contribute to the legislative process within the Northern Ireland Assembly. Election results and MLA representation reflect the ongoing political dynamics of the region.
