Escape Plan (film series)

The Escape Plan film series is an American action thriller franchise centered around Ray Breslin, a structural engineer who specializes in testing the security of prisons by intentionally getting incarcerated and then escaping. The series began with the 2013 film Escape Plan, starring Sylvester Stallone as Breslin and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Emil Rottmayer, a fellow inmate who becomes Breslin's ally.

The core premise of the series revolves around Breslin's expertise in identifying vulnerabilities in prison design and his ability to exploit them to orchestrate elaborate escapes. He uses a combination of observation, engineering knowledge, and strategic alliances to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

The franchise currently consists of three films:

• Escape Plan (2013): Breslin is framed and incarcerated in a top-secret, technologically advanced prison known as "The Tomb." He must team up with Rottmayer to escape and expose the conspiracy behind his imprisonment.

• Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018): Breslin's team member, Shu Ren, is kidnapped and imprisoned in a highly complex prison called "Hades." Breslin must infiltrate Hades to rescue Shu and his fellow inmates.

• Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019): Breslin's girlfriend, Abigail Ross, is kidnapped along with the daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul, and held in a Latvian prison called "Station 13." Breslin and his team must rescue them.

The Escape Plan series is characterized by its action sequences, intricate prison designs, and the collaboration between Stallone and other prominent action stars. While the first film received mixed reviews, the franchise has continued with direct-to-video sequels. Critical reception for the sequels has generally been less favorable than the original.
