Howard Jordan (police officer)

Howard Jordan is a retired police officer who served as the Chief of Police for the Oakland Police Department in Oakland, California. He assumed the position in 2012, succeeding Anthony Batts. Prior to becoming Chief, Jordan held various positions within the department, including Deputy Chief and Commander.

During his tenure as Chief, Jordan faced significant challenges, including addressing crime rates, managing departmental budgets, and implementing reform measures under federal oversight related to the Riders scandal. He also oversaw the police response to protests and demonstrations that occurred in Oakland during that period.
