Michael Showers (actor)
Michael Showers (September 14, 1966 – August 24, 2011) was an American actor known for his roles in television and film. He was particularly recognized for his portrayal of Creighton Bernette in the HBO series Treme (2010-2011).
Showers was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to acting, he worked in various fields, including as a model.
His acting career included roles in several notable films, such as Traffic (2000), I Love You Phillip Morris (2009), and A Perfect Getaway (2009). He also appeared in television series including The Vampire Diaries, Breaking Bad, and Memphis Beat.
His role as Creighton Bernette, a passionate and often volatile literature professor and husband to Janette Desautel (played by Kim Dickens) in Treme, brought him significant critical acclaim. The series explored the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Showers died unexpectedly in August 2011. His death was determined to be accidental drowning. He was 44 years old. His contributions to the entertainment industry, particularly his memorable performance in Treme, continue to be recognized.
