Joe Vitale (musician)
Joe Vitale (born May 2, 1949) is an American multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work with Joe Walsh, particularly during Walsh's solo career and with the Eagles.
Vitale is a proficient drummer, keyboardist, saxophonist, flautist, and vocalist. His contributions extend beyond performance; he is also a composer, arranger, and producer.
His career began in the late 1960s, playing in various bands throughout Ohio. He gained wider recognition when he joined Joe Walsh's band Barnstorm in the early 1970s. After Barnstorm disbanded, Vitale continued to collaborate extensively with Walsh on his solo albums, including contributing to the hit song "Rocky Mountain Way".
Vitale's connection to the Eagles began through his association with Walsh, who joined the band in 1975. Vitale contributed to several Eagles albums, including "Hotel California," "The Long Run," and their 2007 comeback album, "Long Road Out of Eden," playing various instruments and providing backing vocals.
In addition to his work with Walsh and the Eagles, Vitale has released several solo albums, showcasing his diverse musical talents. He has also worked as a session musician for numerous other artists, solidifying his reputation as a highly versatile and respected musician.
