Something Wild (album)
Something Wild is the debut studio album by Finnish melodic death metal band Children of Bodom. It was released in 1997 in Finland and in 1998 internationally. The album showcases the band's early sound, characterized by its fast tempos, neoclassical guitar solos by Alexi Laiho, and aggressive vocals.
Something Wild features eight tracks, including "Deadnight Warrior," "In the Shadows," and the title track, "Something Wild." The album's lyrical themes often revolve around death, darkness, and fantasy.
The recording process for Something Wild was reportedly rushed, due to time constraints and limited budget. Despite this, the album received positive reviews for its raw energy and technical skill. It helped establish Children of Bodom as a prominent force in the burgeoning melodic death metal scene. While the band considers their subsequent album Hatebreeder as their breakthrough album, Something Wild remains a significant release in their discography, representing their initial artistic vision.
