Gauri Pradhan (activist)

Gauri Pradhan is a Nepalese social worker and activist, best known for her work in advocating for the rights of children, particularly those who are orphaned, abandoned, or living in vulnerable situations. She is the founder and director of the organization Shakti Samuha, which focuses on combating human trafficking and supporting survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence.

Pradhan's work with Shakti Samuha has been instrumental in raising awareness about the issue of trafficking in Nepal and advocating for policy changes to protect vulnerable populations. The organization provides shelter, counseling, legal assistance, and vocational training to survivors, helping them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. Shakti Samuha also works to prevent trafficking through community outreach programs and education.

Pradhan has received numerous awards and recognition for her dedication to human rights and her tireless efforts to combat trafficking. These include the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2002, one of Asia's highest honors, recognizing her courage and leadership in combating trafficking in women and children.
