HMS Lenox (1758)
HMS Lenox was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1758. She was built at Deptford Dockyard to the 1745 Establishment.
Lenox participated in several key naval engagements during her service. Notably, she served during the Seven Years' War, playing a role in the Battle of Quiberon Bay in 1759, a decisive British victory that significantly reduced French naval power.
Her career continued into the American Revolutionary War, where she saw further action against French and American forces.
She was eventually broken up in 1784. Like many ships of her era, Lenox's service life reflects the intense naval competition between Britain and France during the 18th century. Her design, typical of a 74-gun ship, represented a balance between firepower and maneuverability that made these vessels the workhorses of the Royal Navy.
