Marvel Heroes (video game)

Marvel Heroes was a free-to-play massively multiplayer online action role-playing game (MMOARPG) created by Gazillion Entertainment and Secret Identity Studios. Set in the Marvel Universe, players controlled a large roster of Marvel superheroes and villains battling iconic foes and storylines drawn from Marvel Comics.

The game featured a persistent world where players could team up to complete missions, defeat supervillains, participate in events, and acquire loot to improve their heroes' abilities and equipment. The narrative was crafted by comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Gameplay centered around action-RPG combat with a focus on character customization through talent trees, gear, and artifacts. Players could choose from a wide variety of playable characters, each possessing unique powers and playstyles. New heroes were regularly added to the roster throughout the game's lifespan.

Marvel Heroes operated on a microtransaction model, allowing players to purchase new heroes, costumes, and other cosmetic items. While the game was free to play, purchasing heroes directly saved players from the alternative of accumulating in-game currency through gameplay to unlock them.

The game officially launched in June 2013 and went offline in November 2017 following the closure of Gazillion Entertainment.
